6:30pm Steve Shanahan, Business Development Director, VINCI Technology Centre
Steve will be talking to us about the Cathodic Protection on early 20th Century heritage steel framed buildings. Cathodic protection is an electrochemical process to control corrosion of a metal surface.
Steve is the Business Development Director at VINCI Technology Centre where the company test materials used in the built environment.
6:50pm James Morphett, Co-founder, Flightkam Ltd
James will be talking about UAV (unmanned aerial vehicles) surveys and has recently been working with the VINCI technology centre surveying some buildings in London.
James is one of the co-founders of Flightkam Ltd. The company inspects structures that are difficult to access. To gain access, Flightkam uses unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with hi-definition camera and sensors. These allow engineers to assess damage using a live data feed.
7:05pm Michael Thorne, Principle Engineer, VINCI Test Centre
Michael will be speaking to us about building pathology, the study of building defects.
Michael has been involved with building pathology and testing for more than 12 years. He is a principal engineer, working within the building pathology department, at the VINCI Technology Centre. He is involved in a wide range of on-site investigations from full structural condition surveys of buildings and visual inspections to managing life-care plans for multi-storey car parks.
